Inspired by the work of artist Robert Kelly, this modern home in Boulder, Colorado explores the relationship between solid and void, light and shadow, and varying degrees of transparency. The composition is defined by a black, trapezoidal form with a sharply detailed metal roof, establishing a clear geometric presence within its foothills setting.
Inside, the ceiling follows the rooflines to shape a sequence of spatial conditions that shift between compression and openness, from more intimate areas to expansive living spaces. A restrained interior palette of white walls and white oak flooring supports a calm, light-filled atmosphere, emphasizing clarity, craft, and connection to the surrounding Boulder neighborhood.
